Our Story

SIMPLE BEGINNINGS

Chicago natives, Jason Eckert and Scott Schmidt, met on a cold call (or should we say frozen vegetable call) in 1999 while working with rival companies.  The windy city showdown led to a friendship which naturally grew into Path of Life ™.   Jason and Scott share the same passion to create simple, real and delicious food.

Though the brand has grown, the owners remain as hands-on as ever.  They still believe that you need to pick up a phone and connect with your customers.  In fact, if you ask them what makes Path of Life™ so special, Jason and Scott won’t credit themselves-instead they will tell you it’s their community.  “Our family, employees and fans are the inspiration.”

They intentionally chose to be on the south side of Chicago, so they could employee locally.  90% of the 200 employees live within 5 miles of the facility.  Not a bad commute in Chicago!

They are still rivals today, but only when it comes to being baseball fans.  Cubs versus White Sox.
